Full transcript (contains answers)
- Today I'd like to talk about the growing popularity of urban beekeeping.
- Bees play an essential role in pollinating many of the crops we eat.
- However, wild bee populations have declined significantly in recent decades.
- Surprisingly, cities can provide a healthier environment for bees than farmland.
- This is largely because urban gardens contain a wide variety of flowers.
- Farmland, on the other hand, is often treated with harmful pesticides.
- Some researchers worry that too many hives could reduce food for wild species.
- A study in London found that honey production varied greatly between districts.
