IELTS Listening Part 3 practice
Academic discussions
IELTS Listening Part 3 is a discussion between up to four people in an academic setting, usually students and a tutor talking about an assignment, a presentation or research. It tests whether you can follow opinions, agreement and disagreement between speakers.
Tips for IELTS Listening Part 3
- Identify who is speaking: questions often ask who holds an opinion.
- Listen for agreement and disagreement: I'm not convinced, that's a good point.
- The first idea suggested is often rejected, so wait for the final decision.
- Learn common academic vocabulary: methodology, questionnaire, data, draft.
