IELTS Listening Part 2 practice

Everyday monologues

IELTS Listening Part 2 is a monologue in a social context: a tour guide, a radio announcement or a talk to new staff or volunteers. Questions include multiple choice, map labelling and matching, so you need to follow directions and the order of information.

Tips for IELTS Listening Part 2

  • Learn direction language: opposite, next to, beyond, on your left.
  • The answers come in the same order as the questions, so don't fall behind.
  • Listen for signposting words such as next, after that and finally.
  • Multiple choice options are often all mentioned, but only one answers the question.
